Cagrilintide (“cagri”) is a long-acting synthetic analogue of human amylin (IAPP) that helps regulate appetite and post-meal glucose handling. It activates amylin receptors in the brain (notably AMY1/AMY3 complexes) to enhance satiety, reduce food intake, and slow gastric emptying, which complements insulin’s actions and can aid weight and metabolic control. When paired with GLP-1 agonists, it provides additive effects on appetite regulation via distinct pathways in the hypothalamus/brainstem.
